The Rivonia Woods Precinct

Rivonia Woods is a Residential 1 District, comprising of the township extensions:-

  • Rivonia Ext 1

  • Rivonia Ext 13

  • Rivonia Ext 17

  • Rivonia Ext 7

  • Rivonia Ext 9

  • Rivonia Ext 25

 

With the exception of Lilliesleaf Heritage Centre located on George Avenue (ERFs 357, 53, 54, 55 & 56) which is zoned ‘Special’.

 

This is geographically located between the townships of Bryanston / Petervale to the West (bordered by the Braamfontein Spruit) and Edenburg to the East (bordered by Rietfontein Road). The N1 highway provides the northern border, and Rivonia extension 12 the southern border.

 

The perimeter of Rivonia Woods is defined by private properties, with individual property sections. The eastern border is defined by the rear of the commercial office parks (located in Edenburg).

Road Closure 

Current vehicle access is from 12th Avenue (east) via Rietfontein Road, with a security barrier located on Rietfontein Road.

 

The JRA approved Security Access Restriction: Rivonia Woods Road Closure Ref: 268 is as follows:

 

  • Closure of Autumn Road:

    • Autumn Road closure has been in place since 1996, where Sandton Municipality closed off the Junction between Autumn Road and Rietfontein Road, erecting an Armco barrier and chevron board No. T/09/96 in an effort to reduce the existing traffic footprint and to alleviate the traffic volumes through this residential area.

    • palisade enclosure located at the Junction of Autumn Road and Rietfontein Road with pedestrian gate

    • Pedestrian gate to remain open for set times each day.

 

·         Closure of Twelfth Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue and

    • In 2004, the Junction between 12th Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue was closed, to further reduce traffic flow between 12th Avenue and Rietfontein Road

    • The palisade enclosure located at the Junction of 12th Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue (alternate vehicular access with access in emergencies) with pedestrian gate

    • Pedestrian gate to remain open for set times each day.

 

  • Rietfontein Road

    • The Security control access boom, located on Rietfontein Road
